Sadho Re....

AGNEE – the latest Fusion/Rock Band from India. And they are extremely promising if they continue the way they have debuted. Two of their videos are currently on air. Both songs were written by the Great Saint Kabir [1398-1448 A.D]. Actually the lyrics is comprised of his dohas.... which really convey the essence of life.

But here I am going to talk about the music videos of the forementioned songs. The first one to air was “Sadho Re” [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBsiFhcTbc4 ] and the second was “Kabira” [video not found on YouTube]. The best part about the videos is that they do not have any ‘model’. They are made with real, day-to-day people.

Lets talk first about “Sadho Re”. The video is based on the Ghats of Ganga in Banaras. It focusses on the pain in the world while emphasizing on death. A little girl is shown lost in the crowd and, while she is crying aloud, nobody is noticing her. In the meanwhile, some painful ways of devotion are shown, like hitting self with a hunter. The entire video is very dark in theme, so is the lyrics.. with one line going as....“Sadho re.... ye murdo ka gaon.....”
Absolutely wonderfully shot and edited. A must watch.

The second one.... “Kabira” is another masterpiece... both in terms of lyrics and video. In contrast with “Sadho Re” ..... “Kabira” is a happy song, and so is its video, which is based on Hope, Smile and Spirit. Everybody is smiling in the video... be it a Dabbawaala, a Panwaala, a Bhajiawala, a Saloon owner, a roadside posterwaala... anyone. Everyone loves his/her job and is proud of it. And their smile is really contagious. And different smile symbolises different feelings. A Dabbawaala smiles with the satisfaction of helping another man caught in the busy corporate life have home-made food. A bhajiawaala smiles being happy that he added some spice to the otherwise monotonous life of an office-goer. The old Posterwaala smiles being proud that he helped a foreigner know more about our motherland... our India. Every smile has a meaning. Every smile has a story. Every smile has the spirit of life.

Brilliant work by the director.

I hereby express my salute to the Great Saint Kabir ..... for the wonderful lyrics..... so very meaningful.
And Hats-off to the Band for bringing out such a great fusion music, and to the director for making such amazing videos.
